Catch Up and Brody's List of First!

OK I'm terrible at this whole blog thing. I said I would keep it updated and I noticed its been almost a month since my last update....so here goes a list of Brody's first:

Brody has met so many new "aunts", cousins, great-grandmas and friends over the past few weeks that its just too hard to post photos of everyone. Chris and I do feel blessed for all the gifts and for everyone who has come and visited us. Obviously were biased but we think our little guy is the best and we are more than happy to "show him off"!!!

As you can see life has been quite busy for us! Brody keeps getting bigger and everyday we see him do something new. He is teaching me new things too.... For people who know me, they know that being late is my biggest pet peeve but I'm realizing being on time with an infant is just not easy. It looks like God made me a momma to test just how well I would handle being late places!

3 weeks old and Father's Day!

My sweet baby boy was 3 weeks old on Friday. I cannot believe how big he has gotten in just a few weeks. He is starting to hold his little head up. Chris and I have been extremely lucky so far because Brody has been sleeping from 11pm-5am everynight. We know were lucky and figure that as soon as Nana (my momma) leaves he is gonna stop sleeping through the night for us!  His favorite thing to do is snuggle with you! This past week our family friend Pam from Houston came to see Brody for a few days and enjoyed loving on him and seeing Pittsburgh. Below are a couple of pictures from the last week:

Today we are celebrating Chris's first Father's Day. Brody and I took him out to breakfast at Bob Evans and then to church. It was Brody's first service at South Hills Bible Chapel. He got a little fussy durning the service so we watched the rest of it from the lobby. Honestly he barely made any noise I just think I was nervous! As we celebrate Father's day I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful daddy and a great father-in-law. Brody is not only lucky to have an awesome daddy but also an awesome Papa BOE and Grandpap!

I know all of you are wondering why it took me over a week to write this post and I have had several text messages and emails asking for pictures but the reason is we just got Internet at our house. We have been "stealing" Internet from the neighbors since we moved in but the connection was too slow for me to post pictures so below are several pictures of our baby boy from his first week of life.

We have been so blessed with great parents who have helped us out this first week. There is no way I could have made it without my moms, Margaret and Elisa because unfortunately as my luck would have it I caught an infection at the hospital so I have been on antibiotics fighting that while dealing with a newborn.  Our brothers and dads have been so great and are already taking about Brody playing sports! I have come to realize that every hour or of everyday is a new adventure with Brody. When he starts to cry something that may have soothed him yesterday is not what he wants today so he is already teaching me that momma is not in control! If your wondering, he already has his dad and I wrapped around his finger. Chris and I constantly just want to stare at our beautiful baby boy. OK I will stop gushing about how much I'm in love, I think Ive made that point. Below is a video that "Uncle Matt" made of some photos taken right after Brody was born at the hospital.

Update- New House but No Munchkin Yet.......

It's been a couple of weeks since my last post but I figured it was time to post an update just in case this munchkin decides to come soon.


First off, we are 39 weeks tomorrow and still no munchkin! I’m more than ready for him to get here! His nursery is 99% complete. I just have a couple of finishing touches to do. (I promise to post pictures when it is done!)


Second, Chris and I are very excited to have purchased a home in the Mt Lebanon area of Pittsburgh. We still have our home in St Louis but we really felt like we needed a place close to work so we could feel like we were bring munchkin into a family with a home! Chris and our families have been extremely busy painting and getting the house ready. Since I’m so pregnant, I haven't been able to do anything. I joke that everyone should move when they're pregnant because you don’t have to do anything but sit and direct but Im so thankful for all of their help. Our house would be nowhere close to done if it had not been for all of them.


Lastly, my dad surprised me last week by visiting, It was such a great surprise and I truly had no clue he was coming. My mom had been acting strange but she kept the secret!


As  I continue to countdown until munchkin's arrival I’m trying to stay patient and anyone who knows me knows patience is something I struggle with. I guess God and him are already teaching me a lesson about patience and letting go of control. If Im already learning from him and he hasn’t even arrived yet, I can only imagine everything he will teach me in the upcoming years.

So I decided I would get some belly photos done and found a photographer in Pittsburgh, Melissa Distel Photography. I was so excited about how they came out. These were taken at 35.5 weeks. Here are a couple of our favorites:

I had second thoughts about getting the photos done because anyone who has been pregnant before knows how truly unattractive you feel by 35 weeks. I'm so glad I had them done so that way I'll have some pictures to help me remember this special time in my life.

We had a nice Easter weekend. Got to spend time with family and we had the opportunity to serve Easter lunch to some residents in downtown Pittsburgh. It really was a great experience to see God's love in action!

Munchkin happenings in Pittsburgh

So two weeks ago, we had quite the fun filled weekend. On Friday we got to have a 3D ultrasound of munchkin done. It was an awesome experience that we got to share not only with each other but 2 grandmas, 1 grandpa, 1 great-grandpa, and 2 great-grandmas! Clearly our munchkin is one very loved little boy.

On Saturday, munchkin's Grandma hosted a wonderful baby shower. It was so great to see so many friends and family. My grandma Ruth (who is about to turn 89) traveled from St Louis, MO to attend the shower. Chris and I feel so blessed that our little munchkin is loved by so many already.

After the shower we went to the Pirates game. Since living in Dubois, PA we have been so fortunate to meet so many great friends and most of them were able to come into Pittsburgh for the shower and then go the game!

As we pack up our house and get ready to move into a hotel, its hard to believe that our munchkin will be here in about six weeks! Everyday he moves a little more and I thank God for our little boy.
